Audioblogger

Wednesday, August 10th, 2005

Found this cool site today. Audioblogger is not owned by Google or Blogger (Although the design of the site would lead you to believe otherwise). They do have some sort of a deal with Blogger though, so it’s not like they’re a completely rouge agent.

this is an audio post - click to play

I also found Audioblog.com whose domain differs by only a few letters. This service looks to be much cooler as it allows you to view the content without leaving the page using a Flash (i think) player. It also allows you to upload files instead of calling which is nice if you want better quality or want to do an edited post. Plus, you can upload video. Avi’s only right now, but I’m sure they’ll add more formats. The catch? It’s not free. I didn’t look at the pricing, but as I’ll probably never use this feature, I’m not going to shell out for it even if it is better than the free Audioblogger.

Amazing ASCII Animation

Monday, August 8th, 2005

This is just so cool. Someone converted a few seconds of the matrix to an animation using ASCII art. This is not flash, java, or quicktime. This is a real HTML document using only javascript for help. Even if you’re not into the technical stuff, check this out.

Nerd Test

Friday, August 5th, 2005

I just took a nerd test. I scored an 84. Apparently, I’m nerdier than 84 percent of the people out there who took the test. Hey all you nerds out there, go take the test.

Man, I totally thought I would be mildly nerdy. Apparently, I’m “Highly Nerdy.” Damn.

The All-Nighter

Wednesday, August 3rd, 2005

My sleep schedule is all fucked up. I really haven’t been able to get to sleep before 5am in a couple weeks. I’m not really sure why, but I have a couple ideas.

1) I have a severe case of arachnophobia and my house has recently become infested with millions of the eight legged beasts. I’m not really sure what’s up with my fear of those things. I’m not actually afraid of them harming me in any way. It just *ugh* just thinking about them makes my skin crawl. I have trouble getting to sleep sometimes because every time I lay down, I see a spider somewhere near or even on my bed and the adrenaline starts flowing, thus ruining my chances of actually aquireing any Z’s.

2) The second, and more likely reason has to do with my sleep cycle. Apparently the ideal awake sleep ratio is something like 16:8. That is 16 hours awake, then 8 alseep. My ideal sleep cycle is something more like 30:6. The problem with this is really that sociaty refuses to conform to my 36 hour day. They say something about sunlight, but I don’t believe sunlight actually exists anyway.

The point of all this is this: This is yet another night that I’m up ALL FREAKING NIGHT. I have to be at work tomorrow and I have the same dilemma I’m constantly facing. Do I sleep? Or do I just go into work? Well, if I go to sleep now, there’s a good chance I will not make it into work on time. If I go into work, there’s a good chance I’ll fall asleep while I’m there. Which is the lesser of two evils?

Any thoughts?

My New Toy

Monday, August 1st, 2005

I finally broke down and bought that watch I’ve been drooling over since it first came out a few months ago. The watch is apparently so new, it’s not even on the website yet, save the this one picture. Overall, I’m really satisfied with my purchase. The watch is amazingly lightweight, water proof (actually resistant up to 200 meters, but I’ve never been in a swimming pool that deep, so it’s water proof as far as I’m concerned), and quite cool looking. It’s a Fossil. It’s Titanium. It’s Glorious.
